Even if you get lucky with a great manager, they have a dozen other people to think about and will be able to dedicate only a fraction of the attention to your career that you can. There are plenty of ways to own your career, such as telling your manager and peers what you care about, sharing work that you do which they might not notice otherwise, and creating opportunities for people to give you feedback.”
